While presenting his strategic plan this Tuesday, the boss of AXA sees the Covid-19 crisis as an illustration of the progression of systemic risks, impossible to pool. This is also the case for cyber risk, which he says corresponds to a “digital pandemic”. After an invoice of 1.5 billion euros linked to the Covid in 2020, the insurance group does not plan “at this stage” for provisions in this regard in 2021.
What conclusions do you draw from your last strategic plan?
We have profoundly transformed AXA, which was rather a company focused on life insurance and present all over the world. Today, we have refocused our activities. AXA is the leader in the European markets where we generate two thirds of our results and in Asia, where we are among the top 3 insurers. With the integration of XL, we have become one of the world leaders in corporate insurance and we were the first to make the strategic bet in health.
